WAWD
Systems has served the route accounting market since
the mid 1980s. Prior to that WAWD's owner, Rich
Stover, and several of our employees helped Norand
Corporation (now owned by and known as Intermec
Technologies Corporation) bring the automated route
accounting concept to market. In
doing so, they made it possible for bakeries, snack
food manufacturers, dairies, beverage companies, and
their distributors to reduce distribution costs,
increase sales revenue, and improve service to their
customers. Today, WAWD Systems provides total
route accounting solutions including hardware,
application software,
integration middleware, and accounting
systems.
Handheld Computers and Mobile Printers:
WAWD Systems provides complete route
accounting infrastructures including
handheld computers, mobile printers,
and the networks, servers and software
necessary to integrate them into a
complete, working solution. WAWD
Systems is pleased to be a Symbol
Technologies authorized reseller,
offering Symbol's entire line of
enterprise mobility products including
handheld computers, mobile printers,
barcode scanners, and supporting
products. We continue to support
our Norand/Intermec customers with
consulting, custom programming, and
procurement assistance.
Additionally, very attractive trade-in
opportunities are available for customers interested in
upgrading their equipment.
Application Software for Handheld
Computers:
We
recently evolved our software strategy
to support handheld computers based
upon the Microsoft®
Windows Mobile™
platform including the Pocket PC and
Windows® CE systems. The Windows
Mobile™ platform is supported by a
large number of handheld computer
manufacturers including those
supplying commercial PDAs and those
supplying hardened industrial handheld
computers. In technical terms,
this strategy allows us to utilize
features such as color, graphics,
advanced communications methods, and
e-mail, XML, and Microsoft®
Office integration. In addition
to important technological
improvements, our customers benefit
from the ability to choose among
hardware suppliers while retaining
their investment in software.
WAWD
Systems implements this strategy
through our
Mobile Data Entry (MDE)
handheld software product. MDE is
the route accounting
solution for the Direct Store Delivery
market. MDE runs on Windows Mobile™/Pocket
PC/Windows® CE platforms
including commercial PDAs from
manufacturers such as Compaq/HP, Dell,
and ViewSonic as well as on rugged platforms
from manufacturers such as Symbol, Intermec, Fujitsu,
and others. Out of the box, MDE
provides all the basic functions
required to run your daily route –
truck loading, sales, settlement, and
communications with an upstream
computer.
Integration
Middleware:
WAWD Systems
has extensive experience in
integrating route accounting
infrastructures with customer
accounting systems and other corporate
enterprise systems. We have
developed an arsenal of middleware
products and tools to employ when
delivering our systems and services.
These include products developed by
WAWD Systems, as well as from other
manufacturers including Symbol
Technologies, Microsoft Corporation,
and others. Where no reasonable
solution already exists, we provide
custom programming services to
accomplish the integration.
Several of
our clients, including such names as Stroehmann and
Tastykake, use our Branch
Commander integration platform. Branch Commander
provides capabilities for updating
master files, performing common daily operations, communicating with upstream
computers and handhelds, and
reporting.
WAWD
Systems developed its route accounting
solution because most accounting
systems do not support the route
orientation required by DSD
operations. A number of our
customers utilize our base route
accounting system as an integration
platform, performing route accounting
specific functions on it, and then transferring aggregate sales
data to their corporate accounting
system.
For our
smaller customers, WAWD Systems has
developed a route accounting
integration package for Intuit's
popular QuickBooks® accounting system.
This opens the door to DSD sales to
even the smallest companies with only
a few routes.
Your
choice of accounting systems may
obviate the need for middleware.
However, should your accounting system
not provide you with all the
functionality required to perform
route accounting, WAWD has middleware
available to help.
Accounting systems:
WAWD
Systems has been providing accounting
systems sales, implementation, and
support since the mid 1980s.
Recognizing the lack of accounting
systems suitable for supporting the
route accounting environment, we
originally licensed the source code for the RealWorld® accounting system and
developed our route order entry,
inventory, sales, accounts receivable,
and settlement modules for it.
We continue to enhance, support, and
maintain these modules. Since
2006 we have migrated these modules to
PassPort Business Solutoins.
For many
of our customers PBS® has been, and continues to be,
the accounting system of choice.
We can configure PBS® for use
only as a route accounting solution or
as a company-wide
accounting system including general
ledger, accounts payable, etc.
The choice is yours, WAWD Systems
supports our customers to whatever
level they desire.
Most
accounting systems are purchased for
reasons unrelated to route
accounting. Thus, there are any other
number of options available to you.
WAWD Systems would be more than happy to help
you explore them and perform the
integration for you. We have
interfaced to a number of different
accounting systems throughout the
years. Whatever your
plans are in this area, WAWD Systems
can provide the route accounting
infrastructure and integration to
ensure success in your route
accounting solution.
